ABOUT US

Emhiser Research, Inc. designs and manufactures a complete line of airborne and ground-based telemetry equipment.

Founded in 1978 in Ridgecrest, California by a group of telemetry engineers, the company's growth soon prompted a move to the Reno, Nevada area in 1981. Emhiser Research, Inc. now has a research, development, and production facility in the picturesque town of Verdi (ten miles west of Reno). This facility is configured for total program management from the design and prototype stages through full production.

All Emhiser Research products are designed for harsh military environments and many have been range qualified. Numerous patents have resulted from our imaginative designs. For example, a phase locked loop breakthrough allows us to DC couple channelized transmitters and receivers with deviations and bandwidths ranging from narrow band through video.

More recently, we have developed a line of ultra-high efficiency transmitters which consume less than one half the current of conventional designs. With this new line, a 2 watt conventional transmitter can be replaced by a 5 watt ultra-high efficiency transmitter and, besides doubling the output power, the user will also observe slightly less input current and considerably less dissipated power.

Using surface mount technology and advanced RF, digital, and analog techniques, we are able to design and produce miniature, ruggedized, affordable units in conformance with your system and program needs. Emhiser telemetry equipment has been supplied to all military branches on both prime and subcontract basis. Defense companies served include: Aerovironment, Boeing, Cartwright, Ecliptic, Honeywell, Lockheed, Northrop, Raytheon, Schreiner, Summit, Symetrics, and many more.

Emhiser's acquisition of the military RF amplifier product line from the former Chesapeake Microwave Corporation now allows us to better serve the RF amplifier needs of our present and future customers. This new technology will also soon spawn a line of higher power (>200 watts) airborne and ground based transmitters.

Our most recent development is a line of multi-mode spectrally efficient digital transmitters. These units are capable of outputting conventional PCM/FM (ARTM Tier 1), SOQPSK (ARTM Tier 1), and Multi-H CPM (ARTM Tier 2) waveforms in any combination. Five watt versions of both L (D) band and S (E) band are currently flight qualified with ten watt versions available in the 4th quarter 2005.

Our Canadian affiliate, Emhiser Research Limited, focuses on the research and development of advanced telemetry products to serve the growing international telemetry market.
